Terms of Service
Terms for Using Grammate
These terms cover the Grammate website, Windows app, optional browser helper, local AI workflow, cloud AI workflow, accounts, subscriptions, downloads, and support.
1. Agreement
By accessing or using Grammate, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Grammate.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Grammate. If you use Grammate for a company, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that entity.
2. The Service
Grammate is a writing assistant for Windows. It can help correct grammar, improve wording, change tone, and replace text in supported workflows. The service includes the desktop app, landing site, downloads, checkout, cloud features, local features, optional browser helper, and support tooling.
Local Mode uses a local AI endpoint on your machine. Cloud Mode uses hosted services and third-party AI inference providers, currently including Cerebras, DeepSeek, and DeepInfra, and may be subject to daily query or token limits. Features, supported apps, Cloud AI providers, models, routing, limits, and availability may change over time.
3. Accounts
You may need an account to use Cloud Mode, paid plans, subscription management, or other online features. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep your email current.
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe your account is being misused, creates risk, violates these terms, or is required to be restricted by law or service-provider rules.
4. Your Text and AI Output
You keep ownership of the text you submit and the output generated for you, subject to any rights others may have in the underlying content. You give Grammate the permission needed to process your text and return the requested correction, rewrite, or tone change.
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, or unsuitable for your context. You are responsible for reviewing output before using it, especially for professional, legal, medical, financial, academic, or sensitive communications.
Do not submit content that you do not have the right to process through Grammate. Do not rely on Grammate as a substitute for human judgment or professional advice.
5. Plans, Billing, and Cancellation
Free local use may be available without a paid plan. Paid plans increase hosted Cloud Mode capacity and are billed through Stripe. Prices, plan limits, and billing intervals are shown on the pricing and checkout pages before purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the next renewal date. You can manage billing through the Stripe-hosted billing portal when available. Taxes, currency conversion, and payment-method rules may apply.
Unless a separate refund policy is posted or required by law, subscription fees are not automatically refundable for partial billing periods, unused quota, local setup issues, or changes in how often you use the service.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Grammate to:
- Violate laws, regulations, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or contractual duties.
- Harass, abuse, threaten, impersonate, deceive, or harm others.
- Generate spam, malware, phishing, fraud, or content designed to bypass security controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, interfere with, or bypass limits for the hosted service.
- Share access tokens, abuse guest access, resell the service without permission, or misrepresent your identity.
7. Software, Updates, and Browser Helper
Subject to these terms, Grammate grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app for your own writing workflow.
The app may check for updates, and newer versions may replace older ones. The optional browser helper is provided to improve browser text selection and field detection. You are responsible for installing updates and using the helper only in browsers and environments where you have permission.
8. Third-Party Services
Grammate depends on third-party services for account authentication, billing, cloud AI inference, diagnostics, security, and hosting. Cloud Mode requests may be routed to third-party AI inference providers such as Cerebras, DeepSeek, or DeepInfra to generate the requested correction or rewrite. Your use of those features may also be governed by those providers' terms and policies.
9. Grammate Content and Feedback
Grammate's software, design, names, logos, documentation, website, and related materials are owned by Grammate or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from Grammate except as allowed by these terms or applicable law.
If you send ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.
10. Disclaimers
Grammate is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available in every app, compatible with every Windows setup, or that every correction will be accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grammate disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grammate will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost business, or lost goodwill. Grammate's total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to Grammate in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50, whichever is greater.
12. Termination
You may stop using Grammate at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk, fail to pay, abuse the service, or if we discontinue a feature or the service.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
